California Protective Services is a duly licensed California Private Investigation and Private Security company. We employ talented and resourceful investigators and security specialists from all parts of the country.

To give you a brief history, CPS began in 1992 when Bob "The Moose" Miller a distinguished Supervising Special Agent from FBI, retired. He opened his own boutique investigative firm, which employed three people, a secretary, a process server and a young kid Patrick Potter who had an aptitude for figuring things out. The Kid and the Former Agent soon discovered that they offered one another an opportunity. The Kid was an out of the box thinker, who had aspirations to grow the company and diversify its areas of expertise. Whereas the Former Agent was a linear thinker, who had nearly 37 years of federal law enforcement experience with a specialization in Surveillance. The Former Agent trained The Kid as he would have any field agent, and began imparting the knowledge obtained over a long and productive career. The Kid absorbed the information in way that inspired the Former Agent to expand,  following The Kids opinions about diversifying. In 1997 The Former Agent would pass the torch to The Kid who had changed the name of the company to what it is today, California Protective Services. The following year the Former Agent would pass away from age and bestow onto The Kid full ownership of the company. Since the passing of the torch The Kid has grown the company to over 400 clients worldwide, with offices in seven cities around the country. He still plays a valuable role within the company and has been utilized by many for consultancy services worldwide.

California Protective Services investigative and security staff come from a variety of backgrounds and philosophies including former New York Police ESU, Los Angeles Police Metro SWAT Division, Los Angeles Police Special Investigation Section, U.S. Military Police, U.S. Secret Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Office of the Inspector General DHS and Her Majesty's Customs and Excise United Kingdom

We have a full legal-support department with in-house paralegals, who  are certified in California, New York, Nevada and Florida.

Due to unforeseen and unfortunate events we no longer publish a company directory with investigator profiles. Our investigators identities must protected, unlike law enforcement agents, our investigators are not protected to any greater degree than the average person. Subject to the same laws and the same punishment for crimes. Only in the capacity of the Service of Process do we automatically inherit greater protection from California Penal Code 830.6 Court Officer, thus making crimes against our process servers a felony rather than only a misdemeanor. We realize that this may come as an inconvenience but once contact is made with us, our CEO will be happy to provide more information about our personnel and history.
